East Meets West Heath House Wedding
This East meets West Heath House wedding was one of my favourites of 2016. I arrived early at The Heath House, just as the sun was starting to filter through the trees on the driveway, excited to see Jin & Atul again and to meet their families and friends.
From our first Skype meeting and getting to know them over emails and chats, I just knew their Asian fusion wedding would be fantastic! They were going to incorporate a mix of western and Indian cultures, with a Hindu ceremony taking place in the morning followed by a change of outfits and a classical English wedding in the afternoon. The morning started with Atul and his family gathering for the Sehra Bandi ceremony, where the family gathers to pray and attach the Sehra, a heavily embroidered veil, to Atul’s turban. It was lovely to see the family come together in a moment of quiet prayer before the joyful procession of the Baraat.
I’ve photographed a number of Asian weddings before but this was my first with a Baraat! Needles to say I was in my element and absolutely loved the drama, the music and excitement. Atul led the procession of guests to the ceremony marquee to be welcomed by Jin’s family, such a lovely tradition.
Heath House is a perfect backdrop for beautiful wedding photography, with stunning gardens and a gorgeous ceremony room. I loved the contrast of the outfits of the morning celebrations to the classic English wedding in the afternoon. Jin chose an incredibly chic David Fielden wedding gown with a full length cathedral veil. The flowers were by the talented Passion for Flowers. I must give a big thank you to Danielle who assisted as my second shooter for the day.
