Rustic Barn wedding at Curradine Barns

Jul 23, 2023 | Featured, Wedding

I feel so lucky that I got to photograph this gorgeous rustic, West Midlands Barn wedding at Curradine Barns. Over the years I’ve been the Wedding Photographer for both Ellie’s Brother and her Sister! It always feels special being asked to back to photograph another wedding in the family. It means I know I’ve done a great job. Plus is was so nice so see this lovely family again.

Couple Portraits

There are so many photography options when it comes to locations for your couple portraits at Curradine Barns. I just ask for fifteen minutes during your drinks reception and then ten minutes or so after dinner. Ellie, Nick and myself wandered around the garden, driveway and courtyard areas to create some gorgeous relaxed, romantic portraits.

Confetti at Curradine Barns

The confetti throwing is one of my favourite parts of the day, it’s such a happy moment and always so much fun. When you come out of your ceremony, I like to give you a few minutes to yourselves. Curradine Barns is perfect for this, as you can stay in the courtyard, while I organise your guests into two lines, either side of the main entrance doors. You can then walk out to a blizzard of confetti and the cheers from all your guests. If you’re having an outdoor ceremony at Curradine Barns, I arrange confetti as you walk back down the aisle as newlyweds. Finally, if you’ve chosen to have an Autumn or Winter wedding, the venue are happy for you to have confetti thrown inside the ceremony barn, as you walk back down the aisle. This means everyone can stay warm and dry.

Country barn wedding with pastel styling

Ellie chose pops of colour in the bouquets to stand out in their rustic and pastel styling. I adored her bouquet from The Vintage House That Could

Golden hour sunset photos

When the sun sets at Curradine Barns, it’s glorious! We were treated to a stunning golden hour and celebrated by doing a champagne spray photo, which was so much fun! I always have a video call with my couples, around 6 weeks before your wedding day. During our call, we can chat through your timeline and if you’d like sunset couple portraits, we’ll work out how they’ll fit into your day. Golden hour, is the hour before the sun sets but in reality, there’s usually just a 20 minute window of beautiful orange, golden light. In the height of Summer, this is usually just before you have your first dance, so we can nip away and capture these photos before the party starts.

Barn Wedding Ceremony

The wedding ceremony took place in the Barley Barn. Ellie walked down the aisle on the arm of her Dad and after some beautiful vows the couple sealed their “I do’s” with a kiss, in front of a gorgeous floral circle backdrop.

Family Group Photos

Although my style of wedding photography is very relaxed, I do think it’s important to get some family group photos. These are some of the photos that will be looked at in years to come and it’s probably not that often that all of your closest family is all together in one place. I recommend keeping your family group photos to just your immediate family, that way  they don’t take up much time. There are a couple of lovely spots at Curradine Barns for family group pictures, I like to do them either on the patio just to the side of the entrance or on the front lawn area.
